Designer and Owner Comments:
Designer Comments:  This is a one-story brick and block building with three classroom wings, one for K-1 classrooms and the other two for grades 2 through 5. All classrooms have three windows for light and ventilation. This building can be easily modified to suit different requirements of the location. For instance, a larger gymnasium can be added for shared use. The building can be rotated or the floor plan flipped to accommodate different site constraints. This building originally contained around 96,000 square feet. In an effort to reduce cost, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools asked WHN to reduce classroom sizes to the current sizes.
Owner Comments: This design is very efficient and practical to fund. CMS is currently reviewing their education requirements and will review these new guidelines to see if modifications in room sizes need to be changed. To date, the school district is very satisfied with this design. Mike Higgins Project Manager
