Designer and Owner Comments:
Designer Comments:  The Elementary School incorporates current philosophy in education and a state-of-the-art technology system. Arrangement of classrooms in a series of "houses" provides a creative learning envirorunent with an appropriate scale for children. The school plan adapts to a variety of sites by reconfiguring the "houses" The prototype speeds construction and reduces building costs without sacrificing educational quality. MMPA is has completed construction on a second school of this prototype, and two more are currently under construction, scheduled to be complete next summer. MMPA redesigned the faade and changed the exterior colors so each school has its own character and identifies with its particular community. To assure the long term flexibility of each school, the "houses" have been designed and engineered to be easily expanded as the student population increases.
Owner Comments: The schedule for this project was extremely tough. Design and construction documentation were completed in just 13 weeks, and construction was completed in 14 months. MMPA's depth and project management skills ensured that they met this demanding schedule. Throughout the project, MMPA has been mindful not only of the construction budget, but of long-range maintenance and operating costs as well. They selected materials and finishes that would keep the project within the current budget, yet would be cost-effective throughout the life of the school. Furthermore, they provided design alternatives that allowed us to choose from various options, depending upon the contractor bids. I have found the Moser Mayer Phoenix staff to be completely professional and responsive to our needs. Overall, my experience with Moser Mayer Phoenix Associates has been a positive one.
