Designer and Owner Comments:
Designer Comments:  The design approach was to establish a plan with a central circulation commons/corridor. We decided we had too many elements to do this so we placed the administration at one end of the central commons space with the media center at the other. Then with a 6th grade wing to the left and vocational wing to the right, we proceeded to place the cafeteria to one side of the commons and a 2-story wing to the left with a balcony which overlooked the cafeteria. Then the gymnasium/locker area next to the administration completed the concept. The commons has a huge Kalwall skylight which makes the space a wonderful lighted space to be in.
Owner Comments: The positive features of the design are the large commons area terminated with the media center and administration, and the fact that there is a balcony overlook at the 8th grade wwing that overlooks the terraced cafeteria and stage area. Also the media center overlooks all the sports fields on the back and the front of the schgool looks down on the road and entracnce below. If this concept were used again I think the overall appearance of the school from the road could be improved on by doing the large skylights at each end of the commons differently.
