Designer and Owner Comments:
Designer Comments: This school is designed to replace an existing outdated rural school. The core functions are designed to accomodate up to 600 students. Increased student capacity can be achieved by adding classrooms at the ends of existing classroom wings. Interior expansion is possible by removing divider walls botween resource rooms. Chapter I and Speech classrooms can be used as regular classrooms if necessary. The two 5th Grade classrooms can be used for music and art, depending on student load and demographics during any given school year.
Owner Comments: The Elementary School features an architectural design that positively supports the educational environment. The appearance is bright, light, and inviting. The center of the school is a spacious media center that is easily accessible from all areas of the building. The layout provides many ways to get to different parts of the building which prevents overcrowding in hallways and makes it easy for small children to maneuver. The layout is also flexible, so additions to the building will fit in naturally.
