| Designer Comments: The High School is a 167,000 square foot facility with an estimated turn key cost of $20 million. The project bid at $15 million which enabled the acceptance of all alternate bid items for a complete project. Features include an all metal architectural grade sloping roof, extra wide corridors for visibility, classrooms, art, music, and band rooms, an 850 seat auditorium and stage, 400 seat cafeteria, and vocational shops. This facility includes a new gymnasium, complete with seahng for 1,600 people, lockers, support offices, auxiliary gym, and weight room. It also includes a 15-acre athletic complex with varsity football and baseball stadiums, athletic track and field apparatus, practice fields, 6,500 square foot field house, and tennis courts. The cabling and communication system at Southside High School Is built around the Tek-Net interactive information retrieval system, allowing classroom connections to all media-located information, including cable TV, DVD, VHS, Channel 1, and distance learning facilities. |
