Lead in Artificial Turf

Some athletic fields in New Jersey with older synthetic turf were found to have elevated levels of lead. In 2008 the New Jersey Department of Health & Senior Services, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC) and the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC). While harmful levels of lead were not found, voluntary standards and precautionary measures have been recommended.
