North Carolina Department of Public Instruction

Every five years, local boards of education are required by G.S. 115C-521(a) to submit their Facility Needs Assessment (long range plans) to the State Board of Education.  It is now time to prepare the Facility Needs Survey 2015-16.  The results of this survey will assess projected facility needs for the next 5-10 years, and will be used statewide and locally.

There is a critical state of public school facility needs in North Carolina and gathering the requested data is important in planning for that need.  Being a statutory requirement, it is important that the LEA complete the survey in a timely manner.  Based on the survey input, reports will be prepared by School Planning for the legislature in early 2016.

The deadline for the submittal of the survey is Friday, January 8, 2016.  We will not be able to postpone the deadline.  Please return the requested data directly to the NCDPI School Planning Section as described in the Instructions on or before that date.

The School Planning Section has developed a uniform reporting system to assist local school administrations in preparing the required information using MS Access program.  Input for your schools is similar to that of prior surveys.  The main difference is that it is being distributed by download from Microsoft OneDrive cloud storage.  Instructions for the download are at the link below..  To activate the program, you will need the Password that was sent to each LEA superintendent previously.
